Ranchi: An ink attack targeted All India Students’ Association (AISA) national president Neha Bora during a student protest march led by AISA toward the Jharkhand Assembly. The demonstration was organized to demand action against examination irregularities and paper leaks in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) tests. During the march, a young man suddenly approached Neha Bora and poured ink on her. Police personnel present at the spot reacted immediately, detaining the attacker alongside several others. Initial inputs suggest that the suspect might have ties to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), though authorities have not officially confirmed this connection.
Students have been staging demonstrations for the past 14 days, demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC examination due to alleged paper leaks. AISA organized the rally toward the state assembly to voice solidarity with the protesting students. According to police and eyewitnesses, the unidentified youth threw ink during the march while raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”.
Following the incident, Neha Bora openly accused BJP and RSS organizations of orchestrating the attack. She criticized the groups, pointing out that while BJP and RSS claim to stand with students, they resort to throwing ink when students march to the assembly to demand the cancellation of compromised exams.
She asserted that such threats or attacks would not succeed in suppressing the anger and collective voice of the student community. The protesting students are primarily demanding absolute transparency in the conduct of competitive examinations. They emphasized that when paper leaks happen, the government should not merely blame private agencies but must also hold responsible government officials accountable. Urging authorities to take immediate steps to address the issues, Bora stressed that the government must fulfill the demands of the students, who are continuing their movement through various forms of agitation, including hunger strikes.
