Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP state leadership in Kerala has kicked off a high-octane strategy to storm ahead of rivals in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Focusing aggressively on key battlegrounds like Thiruvananthapuram, Attingal, Thrissur, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta, the party is racing to take total control of the field long before opposing alliances finalize their candidates or launch campaign tactics. Driven by strict directives from the central leadership, the party is rolling out an ambitious road map titled ‘Mission 29’.
If seat numbers jump from 20 to 30 after the upcoming delimitation process, the BJP aims to capture 6 to 8 seats, while under the current 20-seat setup, the central command has instructed the state unit to secure a minimum of 4 victories. To boost winning odds, a top-level state meeting agreed to assign candidates and key organizational managers to respective constituencies well in advance, basing assignments on precise booth-level data and voter political leanings.
Preliminary discussions are already underway to field high-profile leaders in flagship constituencies, including Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Thiruvananthapuram, K. Surendran in Attingal, Suresh Gopi in Thrissur, and Anoop Antony in Pathanamthitta, while lining up influential figures for Kollam and other seats. Determined to maintain momentum, the BJP state executive has chosen to completely ignore recent internal fund fraud and corruption allegations, believing that getting bogged down in controversy would derail campaign prep.
Demonstrating this focus, the leadership firmly shut down demands from the V. Muraleedharan faction for an emergency core committee meeting on the financial fraud, hosting instead a meeting of state general secretaries and vice presidents where the scandal was not even brought up. Despite the notable absence of senior leaders V. Muraleedharan and K. Surendran from the critical meeting, the executive resolved to bypass internal friction and focus single-mindedly on ‘Mission 29’, sending an unmistakable message that election victory trumps internal squabbles.
By fortifying its presence across southern and central Kerala, the party aims to shatter the traditional bipolar alliance structure by converting past vote share gains into decisive victories in core constituencies. State leaders are directing ground-level workers to tighten booth committee operations while highlighting central government development schemes and local issues to build a strong grassroots foundation. With all eyes set on a historic breakthrough, the BJP’s early deployment strategy highlights just how aggressively the party intends to play this electoral battle despite the surrounding political noise.
