Dramatic political developments are unfolding in Kerala as pressure mounts to remove INTUC State President R. Chandrasekharan from his post following the state government’s decision to grant prosecution sanction to the trial court in the multi-crore Cashew Development Corporation corruption case.
The newly formed state government, led by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan after taking office in May, approved the Vigilance and CBI prosecution proceedings against the prominent trade union leader, signaling a strict zero-tolerance approach to corruption.
Backing the government’s decisive move, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal instructed the immediate dissolution of the current INTUC State Committee and the expulsion of Chandrasekharan from the organization.

In the CBI case registered over the scam, Chandrasekharan is named as the third accused, while former Khadi Board Secretary K.A. Ratheesh is listed as the primary accused.
