Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V. V. Rajesh has set off on an eight-day official visit to the United States in pursuit of fresh models for the capital city’s growth and governance. The primary purpose of his overseas journey is to participate in the prestigious convention hosted by the Federation of Kerala Associations in North America (FOKANA) in Philadelphia.
Officials from FOKANA had personally invited him at the corporation office shortly after he assumed office as Mayor. During his stay, Mayor Rajesh will hold high-level meetings with mayors and civic administrators across various American cities to learn about sustainable urban planning, waste management, and international best practices that could be adapted for Thiruvananthapuram. His itinerary includes engaging with the vibrant Malayali diaspora and prominent expatriates from the capital city across major locations, including Philadelphia, Texas, Washington D.C., New York, and Houston.
Additionally, the Mayor will attend the NAMAM Award Night in New Jersey, where he is scheduled to meet renowned oncologist Dr. M. V. Pillai and other distinguished personalities to discuss prospects for setting up world-class medical facilities and healthcare centers in Thiruvananthapuram. Expressing strong optimism, the Mayor stated that the expertise and active cooperation of the Malayali community in the US will significantly boost the development of the capital. In his absence until his return on August 10, Deputy Mayor G. S. Asha Nath has been entrusted with the temporary charge of the municipal corporation.
