On July 26, 1999, overcoming the harsh, adverse conditions and extreme cold of the Himalayan ranges, the Indian Army achieved a historic victory by driving out all enemy infiltrators who had illegally occupied the Kargil border.
In a deeply emotional atmosphere, the entire country pays tribute to the brave martyrs who fought standing guard for the nation, placing their very lives on the line. The unparalleled sacrifice and courage of the soldiers who gave their lives in that bloody battle of 1999 remain an unquenchable flame in the heart of every Indian.
